01. I started the session with a low key set lit with a pair of studio flashes. For the picture on the left and the one top right I used Rotalux 25cm x 130cm striplight softboxes in an upstage position. I let the grey background wall sit to black and I used my Fuji X-T1 with the ‘preview exposure in manual mode’ set to off.
Here are 10 shots, low key and high key from a recent pregnancy shoot session with my friend Leanne.
02. We then went through to the viewing room at my studio and I worked with natural light for these two shots.
03. I then shot into the windows with their white translucent curtains to create a full on high key look. There were no other lights or reflectors used for these shots.
04. We finished off the session with a few colour shots. I left the white balance on my Fuji X-T1 set to ‘sunny day’ and shot using just the orange glow of the modeling light in one of my studio heads. I always like to change viewpoints and the shot on the right taken from above is particularly interesting.
The session lasted a little under an hour with coffee and a natter too. It’s important with some genres to work efficiently to deliver great results in little time and with the minimum of fuss.
I’m really pleased to say that Leanne gave birth one month later at two weeks overdue. Leanne and her baby are doing really well. Thank you Leanne for letting me share these pictures.
